I had beaten Batman: The Video Game for NES and there was literally no one there to witness it except my cat. In the past I’ve written about my time with an obscure title like Palamedes, my triumph of Paperboy and Contra, acting like a child playing Duck Tales, and even my acquirement of the dreadful Action 52 – but here was a game I had beaten all alone – in the dark – like a bat. cough…

“WTF, you bought Action 52?”

“Yeah,” I said laughing. “I’m stupid.” I don't regret it because I love playing NES and I love my collection but God, I wish it weren't so bad.

“WTF Dude, you’ve never beaten Contra before?”

“Well, no,” I said, feeling the need to defend myself but instead just letting it go.

“Why not? It’s not that hard.”

“It’s not that hard,” I mocked sarcastically. “Yeah, it is. It’s tough. But to be honest, I’ve never really taken the time to sit down and try to seriously beat it. I’ve only just dabbled a few times.”

“WTF do you want for your birthday this year?” my wife asked two weeks out from my 31st big day.

“You have the list,” I said, referring to my video game collection I have meticulously organized on Google Sheets. I’ve forwarded the link to anyone who cares about me just in case they get a charity streak or wonder what I would like for a holiday gift. Spoiler alert: I still only get gift cards to Olive Garden.

"WTF, I don't have Paperboy?" I muttered as I scrolled through the Google Sheet tracking my collection on my phone. The clerk looked at me like how was he supposed to know.

"WTF is Palamedes?" I said as I pulled the turquoise/teal or whatever Pinterest wet-dream color of cartridge that is from the shelf. I don't even remember picking up the game and I hardly know what it could possibly entail from the name alone. Let's Google.

Rusty sits down to review yet another hidden gem on Nintendo's Regular NES console from the 80's.  We get some insight into his home life growing up as well as how he feels about the President.

Although 2016 was billed as "the year of VR" due to the retail releases of the long-awaited Oculus Rift and HTC Vive virtual reality systems, many people still questioned whether VR was just a fad. After all, virtually every game or experience available for both systems are small projects from small independent developers that often feel more like tech demos than full games. Well, after E3, I think we can lay those fears to rest.

I've had my Vive for two weeks now, let me tell you all about it.

Here in Episode 18  we talk about the games we added to our backlogs.  Jake added FarCry Primal thanks to some enticing YouTube videos he watched one night while high on cold medicine.  Jake also adds the Flame in the Flood while Trav tackles Geist (GC) and Adventures of Lolo 1 & 2 (NES).

From Episode 18 of the Polykill Podcast, Jake and Trav talk about what games from the early half of May are on their radars. This was recorded on April 27.

Jake and Trav continue to plunder the depths of the Sega Genesis Classics Collection. This time the land on the silly afterlife platformer, DeCap Attack. Despite valiant efforts and premier video game abilities, neither can get past the first boss.

Trav and Jake play Comix Zone, a classic Genesis game stylized like a comic book. Neither had played the game before and it shows

Jake and Trav play Sega's classic Alex Kidd and the Enchanted Castle for the first time. They're clearly the best at playing the game as they are most games. They continue the trend of mastering classic Genesis titles with little to no preparation.

Jake and Trav take their shirts off and pretend to be John Wick, it's so hot! Really, they just play the new time manipulation FPS by SUPERHOT TEAM. The game is available on Windows and XBox One! Definitely try it out!
